Shake Shack

Milkshake, burger, and fries PLEASE.

The weekend is here and sometimes you have to treat yo self. . . or at least that is my motto once the weekend hits. After an entire week of eating clean, I do not see a problem with one cheat meal!

So. . . I decided to treat my tummy to Shake Shack. A well-known burger joint throughout the country but I stopped in the Philly location on Chestnut Street. I ordered the Shake burger that comes with a single patty of beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and shake sauce. I could not only order just a burger. My tummy was HUNNNGRY. So, I added the crinkle cut fries with melted cheddar and American cheese. And I could not forget about ordering a drink. . . so why not add a vanilla shake? I am going all out on my calories for the day with treating myself to a big lunch.

When my number was called it was the best moment of the day. My food looked amazing and I could not decide on where to start. Do you start with the burger, fries, or shake first?! After seconds of contemplation, I dove right into the burger. The burger was fresh and the shake sauce was goo-ood. The fries were hot and the melted cheese on top was delicious. I am glad that I added that extra topping of cheese. Lastly, my shake. My milkshake was a nice creamy vanilla blend topped with whip cream. All I could think was am I in food heaven?

Overall, Shake Shack was amazing and I had a great experience. The food is fresh and they had great customer service. The food came out hot and was ready for me to pick up from the counter within minutes. I will definitely go back again!

Sweet Charlie's

Woah oh oh oh sweet Charlie's of mine.

This weather fluctuating every day makes me crave ice cream. I cannot help but want some ice cream on the 60° days we have been having (at least here in Pennsylvania). A new ice cream shop that recently opened a little over a year ago is Sweet Charlie's. This ice cream shop is different from any other ice cream joint you have been to.

Step 1: Choose your base

  • Ice cream
  • Frozen yogurt

Instead of your getting your usual scoop of chocolate ice cream in a cup, Sweet Charlie's makes their own homemade ice cream & frozen yogurt on a super cold surface. The surface is so cold that when they pour on the base flavor is starts to freeze.

Step 2: Choose your flavor

  • Rise & Shine--cinnamon toast crunch
  • Off Duty--coffee, donut
  • Kiss & Tell--mint oreo
  • Smore Please--graham cracker, chocolate roasted marshmallow
  • Namaste--strawberry cheesecake
  • Wonder Filled--oreo
  • Love Park--chocolate, pretzel, peanut butter
  • So Cal--acai, honey, coconut, banana
  • Money See Monkey Do--nutella, banana
  • Death By Chocolate--chocolate, brownies, chocolate chips

Step 3: Choose your toppings
Your ice cream is then mixed together with a variety of toppings you would like to add. Toppings that can be added is fruit, candy, syrups, marshmallow, graham crackers, cookies, donut bites, and whipped cream. I am an oreo lover so I have to add oreo every time I stop in.

Step 4: Roll the ice cream
Yes. After mixing all this yumminess together, your ice cream is then rolled and stuffed into a cup. I find it to be a cute and creative way of eating ice cream instead of getting your usual scoop in a cup. Overall, Sweet Charlie's is a great place for a quick stop for ice cream as the weather continues to get warmer. Not only is the ice cream delicious, but the staff is friendly and it is entertaining to watch your ice cream be made into a rolled creation!

Fat Salmon

They see me rollin'. . . tryna catch me eatin' sushiiii

Sushi. One of my biggest loves in life. I mean, what is there not to like about rice stuffed with fresh pieces of fish, layered with more fish, tempura, vegetables, & sauce? Exactly. My love for sushi has grown so much over the past few years. I cannot help but crave sushi at least three or four times a week. Do I get it every time my cravings come into effect? Unfortunately no, but this just means I go over the top when I do go out for sushi.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Philadelphia is Fat Salmon located on Walnut Street. Looking from the outside it looks like a very tiny sushi bar that has sushi you could probably get anywhere else, but once you walk in you will be amazed. You are welcomed with bright blue lights with little white tables surrounding along the walls and a sushi bar that is decked out with lite up chairs and fresh fish staring right at you through the glass. The bright white decor and light pink lighting on the walls make you feel like you are in sushi heaven. It completely changes your perspective from what you originally thought before walking in the door.

The menu at Fat Salmon has a wide variety of sushi rolls you can order. They have 31 "featured rolls" which are basically another way of calling them fancy rolls, along with a list of regular rolls, and vegetarian rolls. One thing that I really enjoy is that they put pictures next to the featured rolls. This gives the customer a better idea of what they are going to order. . . or a way to get you to want more. Another plus about Fat Salmon is that they add four new featured rolls to the menu every couple of months. I love this because it gives me a chance to try a new roll every time I stop in.

My past visit I decided to get four featured rolls. From left to right I ordered--the Flamenco roll, Locust, Sea Breeze, and Mr. French Kiss. All were simply amazing and I can never decide which one was my favorite since they are all so delicious. I cannot wait to go back and eat more!
